I listened to For Immediate Release. During this pod cast Tod Maffin was interviewed. Throughout the pod cast, Shel Holtz asked Tod to explain a little bit about who he is and what he does. Tod said that he started his career in radio and broadcast journalism, held in British Columbia. He said that it was during this job that he learned all of his mistakes. He tried a little bit of pretty much everything that had to do with media when he first started out. He even had his own pod cast show that he did.
Tod Maffin’s talked a little about his website in which he has different case studies. He said that he started the website as a frustration of his that there are not many places that you can go to find case studies for his clients. His website splits up different case studies into very specific sections in which people can use. This is very beneficial to public relations specialists. He did not actually complete the case studies, but it links you to different social media case studies, that other people have performed. He himself has narrated the different links so that you are able to know a little about the case study before you are redirected. Something that I found interesting was that he simply used WordPress for this website. Each different link is simply a post with different links. This shows me that I really do have the world at my fingertips. If I desire to start something, I can do it, in a split second on my computer.
Pod casts are a wonderful thing for PR students and new PR practitioners because you are able to hear wise PR professionals that can motivate you and challenge you to do more and to make more connections. The pod casts also provide knowledge and wisdom for PR students that they can attain outside of the classroom.
