Chapter 15

Audio News Release– ANRs differ in several ways from print media releases. The most important difference is that a radio news release is written for the ear.

Public Service Announcements:an unpaid announcement that promotes the programs of government or voluntary agencies or that serves the public interest.

Tips from Trufelman and Goldberg (authors of Public Relations Tactics):

do not spam bloggers

-Be aware of their likes and dislikes before contacting them

-conventional pitch letters may be offensive

-Email is a preferred means of contact

-Be completely open and honest about why you are contacting bloggers

-Disclose your affiliation

-Keep pitches short

-Do not ask bloggers to link to your client’s site or the latest press release
