Investor Relations (ch. 8)

  • Investor Relations(IR) is "a subset of public relations and corporate
communication that deals with a company's relationship with the in

investment community. 
    3 Goals of IR:
    1. Ensure that a company's stock and bond securities are fairly and fully valued 
    in the marketplace.
    2. Fulfill corporations affirmative disclosure obligations under securities
    law and government regulations.
    3. Create competitive advantage.

Formal Disclosure

The company must file specific financial and business information in

a very structured form with government on a regular basis

Informal disclosure

Communication directly to the market that is free form and distributed through a variety

of channels
