Podcasts… How can you benefit from them?

Standard

I greatly benefited from listening to these podcasts. I think that you can learn a lot from listening to any professionals simply because they have more experience in the professional world than we, as students do.

While searching different podcasts that I could listen to, I found myself on The Creative Career‘s website and ended up listening to a few of her podcasts. The first one that I listened to was an interview with Stever Robbins, who has written several books and was able to share a lot of knowledgeable advice. I found his podcast interesting as he spoke a lot about starting out and looking for a job. He shared about the difficulties in getting started in your career and how to overcome these difficulties.

The next podcast that I listened to was also found on The Creative Career’s website and was an interview with Catherine Hudon who was the co-founder of Shorty Clothing. She is a hard worker that was able to share a lot of knowledge on how to get yourself out there and create lasting relationships that will benefit you in numerous ways.

I was also able to listen to Coming Up PR— which is actually specifically geared towards PR students, which made it even more interesting for me to listen to. On this podcast, they gave a lot of advice to PR students. One of the tips that they recommended asking former PR grads was about salary. A lot of people are really curious about what they can expect, and a lot of people are too shy to ask. They also talk about asking what surprised you the most about your career. I think that this is a question that I would definitely think to ask.

So Why Should We Listen To These Podcasts?

I think that it is really important to get other professionals advice and point of view on the profession that we are about to enter. Podcasts inform you and make you think about what you are doing to benefit yourself to further your future career. I also believe that podcasts make you think about different aspects of life that you otherwise would not think of on your own. So go check some out! You may learn more than you expect!
