The Journey By: Katie Davis

On Earth as it is in Heaven

1/24/12

What a beautiful reminder that God has a plan for each and every one of His children and He is just waiting for us to open up our eyes and finally give Him a moment to speak. We need to be clinging to His feet. This is essential in the faith walk. What an example Katie is to me.

January #PRStudChat Recap: Guest Post By Jim Joseph, President of Lippe Taylor By: Deirdre Breakenridge

PR 2.0 Strategies

1/24/12

I am a PR major that is graduating in May of this year, so I found this post very interesting! I really loved the answer to the first question when you said that we are the lucky ones. I love the fact that in PR we get to talk with people and not at them. There is a huge difference between the two, and I am excited to see what I will end up doing in the PR world!

So you want to quit your job By: Martin Waxman

My Palette

1/24/12

I found this post very interesting and very important. It’s true, we always focus on getting the job and not on the appropriate way to leave the job. No matter who you are, young or old, you probably have had to leave one or more jobs, and it probably has been an awkward situation for you. This post was very beneficial to me and is something that I was not educated on before I read it.

Redefining Public Relations By: Gini Dietrich

Spin Sucks

2/13/12

It definitely is hard to explain or ‘define’ what Public Relations is. I feel like we could go on and on about what we do, and each PR professional could probably say something different about what they do, because we do a lot of different things! But why is it so hard to ‘define’ PR? I think it’s hard to do because our role changes so drastically day to day and job to job. Is it possible to even define PR?

Do you act Professionally? By: Nathan Burgess

PRBreakfastClub

2/13/12

This is definitely a good reminder to me. I have been told over and over throughout my college career, don’t burn bridges. This is so true and I have learned to take each opportunity that I have to make a connection and once a connection is made, never let it go. You just never know when you might run into that person again, and need something from them! Thank you for the great reminder!

Boosting the Content Quality on your Blog or Website By: Jason Falls

Social Media Explorer

2/13/12

This was a very informative post and I really liked the part that you talked about being provocative. It’s true that it is rare to find something that you talk about that is completely original. That is why it is vital that you make your posts new and creative. Thanks so much for the words of wisdom!

Breathing New Life into Old Content By: Donna Papacosta

Trafcom News Blog

2/27/12

This was great information that encouraged me that it is okay to re-post some of my content. I also think that it is a great idea to respond to certain topics that clients are talking about within your blog, because it will direct more traffic to your blog.

KONY 2012: Social media and crisis communication lessons learned By: Holtz Communication

A shel of my former self

3/16/12

I would have to agree that it is going to be really hard, nearly impossible for invisible children to keep the fire burning all the way until April 21. I already feel as though the fire is smoldering with this movie. You were right when you said “attention spans are short online.” With all this said, I still support Invisible Children, and have been a follower of them for several years now, so this is not new to me. However, was this the best timing for the movie to go viral? I think not… they should have held out for at least a few more weeks.

On March 22nd, PRStudChat Discusses “Public Relations: Art or Science?” By: Deirdre Breakenridge

PR 2.0

3/28/12

I am really sad that I missed this #PRstudentchat! I am aware that it is important that everyone taps into their ‘creative side’, but I think that it is really important that we understand the importance of thinking outside of the “box”. Social media has such an impact on the success of organizations that it is important that it is done right. This means that it is important to be aware of all the new social media components.

12 LinkedIn secrets to supercharge your social networking By: Shelly Kramer

Ragan’s PR Daily

3/29/12

These were really great tips, especially for me, being a student that is on the verge of entering “the real world”. I have had a LinkedIn profile for awhile now, but probably the best advice for me was number 9 where you talk about adding a personal message when you are trying to connect with someone. It definitely shows a lot about yourself if you can’t even take 5 seconds to write a brief personal message. Thanks so much for the great pointers!

How I use Social Media By: Ryan Shea

Ryan Shae

1/24/12

It is crazy how big twitter has become in the past couple years. I first got a twitter in 2007, but I went through a time that I didn’t use it very often. Now I am an avid twitter user as well. It is a great way to find out what is going on in the world, and quickly! I love pinterest as well, but I wouldn’t recommend it for a guys… its definitely more girly.

12 for 2012 By: Rachel Laflam

Mid Day Coffee Break

1/24/12

Oh the new year. I always sit down and write my new years resolutions as well and some of ours were the same! I also am trying to always have a book that I am reading for pleasure. During the semester I often put aside anything that I am reading for pleasure and wait until summer or spring break to pick it up. But this semester, I am determined for that to not be the case! My personal motto is less facebook, more books!

Why images are important in blog posts By: Adrian Garza

My Thoughts on PR + Social Media

1/24/12

I think that you are right, though videos are impactful, images are quick and shocking. I think it is important to implement pictures within blog posts because it helps break up the writing within your posts. It makes it easier to read and more interesting to look at. I personally enjoy putting pictures within my blog posts because it is fun to pick out pretty ones, but that’s just me!!

My Favorite 2012 Superbowl Commercial: M&M By: Emily Meade

PRetty in Pink

2/13/12

I actually never saw this commercial during the Superbowl, but I really like it! I have little sisters that were watching the Superbowl with us, and I personally was really disappointed in the number of commercials that were seductive and inappropriate. This is the first year that I ever remember being overly offended by the commercials, but I think that they are going to get a lot of complaints from US families.

My Very Rustic Wedding By: Elizabeth Telg

Merry Lovely

2/13/12

I love that you admitted to having your wedding almost completely planned, because I am the exact same way! Every time me and my mom go to a wedding, we can hardly wait to get back in the car and tear it apart. We seriously dissect almost every piece of the wedding, and we keep filed in the back of our minds the things we loved!! Though I have yet to find my knight in shining armor as well, I have realized that it is okay to dream, as long as it doesn’t get too out of hand. God created women this way for a reason, and I think that it is a gift that we appreciate beauty in such a special way!

A treasured [love] By: Jordyn Roe

Relating my life to the Public

2/13/12

You are a really great writer. The way that you arrange your words in such a delicate manner is beautiful and I hope you continue to write and inspire others! I think that it is really cool to look at other peoples lives and see different experiences that have formed who they are today because of their experiences. Today, I learned just a little more about you because of a certain love that you have within!

Scrape your Knee… Not my Blog By: Liz Colburn

Randomly Ravishing

2/27/12

This was a really great post and so true! What really is the point of having a blog if it isn’t your original thought and work? That is the beauty of having the freedom to blog, you can have your values, beliefs, and opinions published! So why would you steal from someone else? What’s the use in blogging if it isn’t your own? Take the opportunity to let your voice be heard and write away!

What it Takes to Make it in PR By: Taylor Flumerfelt

PRestigious

2/27/12

This was a very useful post for me as well. I especially liked the part in the article that talked about teamwork. I think that this is something that can be overlooked in college because we are all focused on individually reaching our goal of graduation, and essentially we are all on different time restraints and have different mindsets regarding work ethic. However, when you are on a team within an organization, it is vital that you are able to work well with one another and are not easily frustrated. This was a very beneficial post! Thanks, Taylor!

Wedding Planners and PR (wait, what?) By: Adrian Garza

My Thoughts on PR + Social Media

3/16/12

Oh I would have loved to be in this class! I love wedding planning and would love to be a wedding planner some day! I think it would be such a fun job! I think that all of your points were good. Guest posting is definitely a great way to get more traffic to your blog, and it doesn’t even take too much work! Good post!

Is Podcasting Dead? By: Rachel Laflam

Mid Day Coffee Break

3/16/12

I definitely agree with you. I think for companies, there are a lot other ways that are more beneficial to get through to your audience. I know for me personally, I do not take the time to sit and listen to something for an hour or even a half hour… unless I am in my car. So I would say, companies should focus in on the networking things that will really make an impact.

Pinterest: What’s in it for Businesses? By: Taylor Flumerfelt

PRestigious

3/28/12

I LOVE pinterest, and I have to admit, for a short period this past summer I think that I was some what addicted! But I have found that Pinterest is the perfect thing for events planning. You can quickly find ideas for almost any kind of even that you would want to put on. I would have to agree with #5. The ‘pin it’ button has been clicked so many times on my computer, and it makes it so easy to compile information quickly. LOVE IT!

I love reading about your passion for missions and adoption. It is definitely my heart as well! Your blog has been such a joy for me to read this semester, and I appreciate your commitment to blogging. It is really cool to see what God is doing in your life! I also blogged when I travelled to China to adopt my little sister! If you want to check it out, it’s www.mikelleliette.wordpress.com I haven’t written on it in awhile, but I traced our entire journey to China and back!! My God bless you as He guides you onto His mission field, Jordyn!
